Top Three Boys:
1. Blake Lewis – For a second week in a row Blake blew me away. I wasn’t sure about the song choice but it’s beginning to seem like no matter what he sings I love.
2. Chris Richardson – Again I didn’t care about the song choice but I loved his performance. Chris and Blake are competing for the same votes and one of them will fall early on because of that. And the world will cry foul when it happens.
3. Sundance Head – I am really glad Sundance received rave reviews because after a so-so performance last week I was worried about him. But now it seems he’s back on top. Just as Chris and Blake are competing against each other, Sundance and Chris Sligh are in competition with one another. I predict one will fall early on and again the world will cry foul.
Who’s going home:
Last week was easy to judge that. This week it’s a little more difficult. I missed the first three performances of the night, but even so I believe Phil Stacey will be safe. Last week I would have said Jared Cotter would make it to the finals, but he was forgettable and boring this week and he was the second to sing so he may very well fall tonight. The judges gave high praises to A.J. Talbado so he may slide by. While Nick Pedro gave a boring rendition of “Fever” and frankly he is quite unmemorable so I believe that puts him at risk of leaving tonight. Sanjaya Malakar also did poorly and whispering the whole song certainly didn’t help. However, seeing that he was in the top three last week I doubt America will vote him out this early. So my choices this are Nick and Jared, but if I had to choose a third person for the bottom three it would be Brandon Rogers.
Top Three Girls:
1. Jordin Sparks – I think she gave a stellar performance with her rendition of reflection. She has a big, big voice coupled with a big big personality. Or as Paula would say she’s “infectious.”
2. Stephanie Edwards – She poured her heart into the song and I felt her emotions as she sang. I loved the performance.
3. Sabrina Sloan – Her performance and vocals were spectacular. Her personality, however, is a bit lame and because of that she may not even make it to the finals. She reminds me of last years Lisa Tucker. She had a great voice but her personality never shined and so her main competition Paris Bennett edged her out.
Who’s going home:
Before I mention who’s going home I must point out that Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha Jones gave great performances, but for me they chose the wrong songs. Neither of them is in danger of going home. I missed the first three performances (my DVR’s timing was screwed up) but even so I believe Alaina Alexander will be leaving tonight. After two lackluster weeks coupled with nude internet photo’s I believe Antonella Barba’s time is up. If theirs is a bottom three I’d have to put my money on Leslie Hunt who’s vocals just aren’t up to the challenge. And then there’s Haley Scarnato who I love, but the judges just don’t care for. Hopefully she’ll find her niche to keep herself in the competition.
